At the #AnnualMeeting I led the parish through an exercise of sharing stories about their favorite restaurants: what makes it good? Location, quality of service/food, accessibility, consistency, etc.

Then I led them through an exercise about why they attend Saint Luke’s: why do you attend, what’s our best feature, what should people know about this place?

And then I talked about the restaurant stories and said, “When you want to share your favorite restaurant with people, that’s evangelism. Talk to people about SLEC the same way you talk to people about your favorite restaurant.”

We’ll see how it goes, but one person told me they never saw the connection coming. WHI knows ….. maybe I’ve just given a bunch of Episcopalians tools for good evangelism.

It’s #AnnualMeeting Sunday here in my little parish. As with any parish, finances are an issue, but they aren’t terrible.
We have a single service at 9:00 followed by breakfast and then the meeting. This lets as many people as possible attend.
I’m preaching a short sermon on the #Beatitudes and trying to live into that ideal.
And hopefully there won’t be any surprises at the meeting.

I led a “sacred story” exercise where people shared stories of the parish with each other, then put up key words on newsprint. Using that to work on vision and mission.
Wrapped everything up in about 45 minutes.
