At the start of 2025, in addition to continuing to track all my manga reading on Anime Planet, I made myself a spreadsheet.

I counted individual volumes I've read as well as individual chapters of weekly manga I've read to get an idea of how much manga I've read this year. This included re-reads too, which I do on the regular, especially on vacation.

For math purposes...I assumed 8 chapters to a volume. Which may be high, but still.

Anyway, to date in 2025 I have read: 75 individual manga volumes, approximately 87 manga volume equivalents worth of individual chapters.

So, 162 volumes of manga year to date. That's not bad...

Anyway, wanted to share. And here's my Anime Planet profile: https://www.anime-planet.com/users/mdmrn

@raizon_d_etre I hope your lists come back!

But...as an FYI you can export your MAL data and other services, like #AnimePlanet (which is awesome), let you upload it to them! Which is cool.

@To Oh, so I found the reviews of Gal Cleaning on #AnimePlanet and...

Wow. https://www.anime-planet.com/manga/gal-cleaning/reviews#46026

So, MDMRNia (11) saw the cover of Volume 1 of The Hunters Guild #RedHood and was like, "Uhm, can I borrow that? Can I read that tonight?"

Well, she's reading it tonight. Let's see how that goes.

The Hunters Guild: Red Hood

In an isolated hamlet lives a boy named Velou who wants nothing more than to protect his beloved neighbors from the werewolf terrorizing the town. But even the town’s mayor—its most skilled huntsman—is unable to handle the situation on his own anymore. In a desperate attempt to save his people, the mayor hires the Hunters Guild to exterminate the werewolf. But after the mayor bankrupts himself into affording the Guild’s services, Velou and the citizens are disappointed when a little girl in a red hood named Grimm shows up instead of the big, strong hunter they were expecting. Velou is skeptical of Grimm’s ability to handle the werewolf—surely the mayor has been scammed, right?! Will Velou and the hamlet ever live happily ever after?

@papertiger@artisan.chat Oh wow! Never heard of that series. Reading the description, my goodness. Sounds intense!

...Wait a second! Went down an #AnimePlanet rabbit hole. The artist of Crying Freeman also was the artist from the 1970s Spider-Man manga https://www.anime-planet.com/manga/spider-man-the-manga

@mdmrn I just took a look, and there’s definitely a wide variety of stuff there. Horror doesn’t really work for me, but I get the appeal.

Btw have you really used #MyAnimeList for manga before? It’s what I’m using atm, but the mobile experience is pretty bad and they can be slow to add missing series. I’m interested in knowing if #AnimePlanet is any better in that regard.

@rinnenoiro @lantana Very cool!

I read a wide mix of stuff from horror to romance to action to slice of life.

I point to my #AnimePlanet account in my profile for more info

@neku @ghostlyash I figured, which is why I tossed up the #AnimePlanet list in case there was something there you hadn't seen. Hoping the collective minds of AP may have some new suggestion

@neku @ghostlyash Got it, so read Claymore / Lone Wolf & Cub.

Hmm. For manga, Attack on Titan has a dark medieval feel, but ugh - did not enjoy that (dropped it after a while).

#AnimePlanet has a great search function if you are looking for #manga that is medieval. Can't vouch for all of it, of course, https://www.anime-planet.com/manga/tags/medieval

Medieval Manga

Complete list of medieval manga. These manga take place in a setting thematically similar to Europe in the middle ages. Castles, moats and small villages adorn the landscape, and knights, military forces and feudal kingdoms rule the populace.
