O-Ku’s Westside Cocktail Recipe

As the weather cools off, there’s nothing better than this Westside Cocktail from O-Ku's Fabricio Andrade to warm you up.

Rough Draft Atlanta
The Dead Reckoning

1 oz seltzer
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz pineapple juice
½ oz maple syrup
½ oz SC vanilla brandy*
½ oz tawny port
2 oz Blended Aged Rum ❸
1 dash Angostura bitters

Add ice/seltzer to glass, shake, strain, top with ice.
Garnish: pineapple frond, mint sprig, lemon peel

This is from Smuggler's Cove and is a great one for summer. The vanilla brandy really steps to the front as the ice melts.

* Vanilla Brandy: Split a vanilla bean lengthwise, cut into three equal pieces, and add the pieces to a bottle of brandy. Reseal the bottle, and let rest at room temperature for two weeks, before removing the beans and discarding. Add 2 ounces of demerara syrup to the brandy and mix well. Store in the original brandy bottle for a year or more.

How I’m Making Old Fashioneds These Days | Brent Lineberry

I’ve streamlined my old fashioneds to be super unfussy (at least for my home bar). Here’s what I do these days.

Orange Gnome

Dirty #Christmas Cosmo

1 oz triple sec
1 oz vodka
1-2 oz cranberry #cocktail
Splash OJ
Splash lime juice
2 dashes #angosturabitters (to taste)
Ice

(Recipe by me!)

Shake over ice. Let sit for a few minutes. Pour into your glass of choice and add ice to the glass if desired.

Entwarnung. Mit einem Spritzer Wermut war er genießbar. (Verreise nie ohne deinen Angostura)

After years of thinking about it I finally bit the bullet and bought a bottle of Pisco. So here’s a new-to-me cocktail.

Pisco Sour

2 oz/ 60 ml Pisco (Caravedo Mosto Verde used)
1 oz/30 ml fresh lime juice
1/2 oz/15 ml rich simple syrup
1 egg white
Angostura bitters

Combine Pisco, lime juice, syrup, and egg white in shaker without ice. Dry shake for 20-ish seconds. Add ice, shake again for 20-ish seconds. Double strain into chilled coupe. Garnish with 3 drops of Angostura bitters.
