In particolare, a Giada devo tanta gratitudine". Elogia i magistrati e gli inquirenti di Pavia e annuncia che quando il figlio, da innocente o dopo aver scontato la pena, uscirà  andranno insieme sulla tomba di Chiara.

Mom Stasi breaks the silence: “At this point I believe it.” And about Sempio…

The new investigation into the murder of Chiara Poggi, in Garlasco on August 13, 2007, contains “strong evidence” that consolidates the hope of seeing her son, Leo, and clearing his name soon, despite years of imprisonment. Elisabetta Ligabò, the mother of Alberto Stasi, speaks in an interview with Repubblica and recounts the last year and particularly the last days spent “with trepidation, waiting to get out of this story. And with confidence in these new investigators and investigators.” The findings of the investigation by the Pavia Prosecutor’s Office regarding Andrea Sempio gives Ligabò hope: “These are strong elements. Yes, at this point, I certainly believe in it! I’ve hoped since 2007. I couldn’t accept what was happening to Alberto. I’ve always said: if only we had, both my husband and I, the slightest suspicion that he was involved, I would have personally taken him and brought him to the Carabinieri. Of course, after the 2014 conviction, trust in the justice system has been shaken. But this Prosecutor’s Office has worked excellently.”

The mother of Alberto Stasi notes a different atmosphere in public opinion and increasing solidarity. She talks about her relationship with her son: “We drew strength from each other. Perhaps Alberto gave more strength to me, even though he wasn’t physically present. Slowly, we arrived at today, with the possibility of seeing each other and returning to visit more often. That means a lot. But no, the relationship hasn’t changed, and he’s always the same. Of course, life has put us through a hard time.”

She asserts that “Chiara is always in my thoughts and prayers, and I know that she is protecting us from above” but she does not intend to send messages to the Poggi family. She does not even address the Sempio directly. The mother of the suspect has written to Stasi in prison extremely harsh letters. She speaks about the lawyers Giada Boccellari and Antonio De Rensis: “For us, they have become almost family members. In particular, I owe a great deal of gratitude to Giada.” She praises the magistrates and investigators of Pavia and announces that when her son, innocent or after serving his sentence, is released, they will go together to Chiara’s grave.

After nineteen years of silence, Marco Poggi, Chiara’s brother, who was murdered in the Garlasco villa, speaks for the first time to our microphones. It is his first interview,” Gianluigi Nuzzi announced on social media. “There are many clouds and many fake news surrounding Marco, he will talk about his relationship with Andrea Sempio, what happened that day, and whether he was really in the mountains,” the presenter continued, noting that the interview was conducted by correspondent Martina Maltagliati.

L'articolo Garlasco, Tg1: “Nessun elemento contro l’ex pm Venditti”. Depositata l’informativa sulla presunta corruzione per archiviare Sempio proviene da Il Fatto Quotidiano.

Garlasco, Tg1: “No evidence against former prosecutor Venditti.” Information regarding the alleged corruption to close the Sempio case has been filed.

Former prosecutor Mario Venditti was not bribed for the archiving of Andrea Sempio in 2017. TG1, through its social media channels, announced that the Carabinieri and the Finance Police filed a report with the Brescia Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of the investigation involving the former Pavia prosecutor who handled the Garlasco case: no evidence emerged to support the bribery allegations against him.

According to TG1, however, elements have emerged that aggravate the positions of some lawyers and Carabinieri involved at the time of the affair.

The military also filed a report on the “Pavia system” in which, as in this case, the former magistrate is investigated on charges of corruption for managing cars assigned to the Pavia Public Prosecutor’s Office and for the granting of wiretapping services. Prosecutors Donato Greco and Alessio Bernardi could at this point request the archiving of Venditti, which would also eliminate Article 11 and thus the fact that magistrates from Brescia would investigate the case due to jurisdiction over the Milanese district.

The investigation could then return to Pavia, as there are no longer magistrates from Pavia involved.

Venditti was investigated last September after the discovery of a note at the home of Sempio’s parents: on the note, seized on May 14, 2025, someone, presumably Giuseppe Sempio, the sole suspect in the new investigation into the Garlasco murder, had written “Venditti gip archivia for 20-30 euro.” From there, the interpretation of the Brescia prosecutors, who hypothesized that “a sum of money was offered or at least proposed as compensation to the deputy prosecutor Mario Venditti for the archiving of the 2017 procedure against Sempio.”

The Garlasco case, TG1: “No evidence against the former prosecutor Venditti.” Information on the alleged corruption to archive Sempio comes from Il Fatto Quotidiano.

Garlasco, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered a psychiatric evaluation of Andrea Sempio.

AGI - Developments in the Garlasco case. The Pavia Prosecutor's Office has ordered a psychiatric evaluation of Andrea Sempio as part of the investigation into the murder of Chiara Poggi.
Garlasco, the prosecutors order a psychiatric examination of Sempio
Prosecutor Fabio Napoleone explains in a note that the consultants must assess “the possible existence, in the investigated, of pathological conditions suitable for impacting the ability to understand and to will, with reference to the facts for which proceedings are taking place and at the time of their realization; the presence of any disturbances or alterations of significant relevance, such as those that affect imputability, as well as the degree of correlation with the alleged facts; the possible configuration of a social danger condition.”
Sempio's defense: "The prosecutor is wrong, the murder in a few minutes"
Meanwhile, yesterday the defense of Sempio added a new element to its interpretation of the Garlasco murder investigation. “After the assault, Chiara Poggi survived for a “very short period, in the order of a few minutes, not for an extended dynamics of 15-20 minutes.” This was written by Sabino Pelosi, a forensic doctor and consultant appointed by the defense of Andrea Sempio, the investigated for the murder of Garlasco. The expert therefore does not agree with the estimates of the prosecutors' consultants who calculated 15-20 minutes for the time interval. This is not the only point of disagreement.
“It is not considered demonstrable the harmfulness resulting from active or passive defense. The injuries indicated by the prosecutor's technical consultant as defensive are considered superficial, nonspecific and compatible with falls, impacts, dragging or slipping on stairs” Pelosi observes, adding that the “available images do not allow for a reliable reading in this sense: the injuries are modest, superficial and lack those morphological characteristics that one would expect in the case of blows against blows inflicted with a hammer. In particular, there are no deep wounds or fractures in the upper limbs that would be more consistent with an actual defensive intervention.”
Sempio's Defense Regarding the Garlasco Murder
The dynamics proposed by the prosecutors' experts are considered “not fully consistent with the objective findings.” In particular, “Pelosi highlights the need to consider the dragging of the victim, the early compromise of her psycho-physical condition after the first blows to the head and the subsequent blows described near the phone and the access to the stairs. The homicide sequence is therefore read as shorter, more violent and less compatible with a prolonged phase of struggle or lucid escape of the victim.”

The defense of Sempio insists: "The DNA in Chiara’s nails is not Andrea’s.”

AGI - The data regarding the attribution to Andrea Sempio of the DNA found on Chiara Poggi’s fingernails “must be considered a fragile, partial and non-individualizing element, not suitable for founding a scientifically robust accusatory conclusion.” This was written by geneticist Marina Baldi in a consultation filed yesterday on behalf of Andrea Sempio’s defense.

“The data appears technically weak because it would not be full and individual profiles, but mixed, incomplete and not fully consolidated profiles – she explains –. Furthermore, the Y-STR data (the Y chromosome, ed.) does not have an individualizing value comparable to a complete autosomal profile and must be interpreted with even greater caution in the presence of multiple contributions.”

Presence of a further male profile

The expert then highlights the “decisive significance” of the presence of a further, unidentified male Y profile on another finger of the victim. This circumstance “documents that the subungual material is not genetically unique and that only the component purportedly compatible with the suspect can be selected, ignoring the presence of other male contributions.”

Absence of proof of aggressive contact

In any case, and this is the other important element for the consultation, “this data does not prove that Sempio had an aggressive contact with the victim, nor that he was scratched during the homicidal action. Alternative hypotheses remain open, such as background DNA, secondary transfer, occasional transfer, contamination, manipulation of the evidence, or deposition not related to the event.”

In the interceptions “he simulated responses to be given to the prosecutors”

In his soliloquies, Andrea Sempio simulated interrogations by the prosecutors. This is the thesis of the defendant’s lawyers concerning the murder of Chiara Poggi in a memorandum filed yesterday in which they contest the reading of the Pavia Prosecutor’s office, which in those dialogues with himself had instead seen elements of admission. Sempio “frequently simulated objections that he believed could be made to him, he formulated them aloud and provided his hypothetical answers” reads the document.

On other occasions, the defense hypothesizes, he used “a polemical and certainly not confessional register; he proposed examples, or reproduced virtual dialogues and always prefixed the expression ‘type’; he reported a virtual dialogue as if he imagines it (often recalling to mind and reproducing as he hypothesizes the circulating hypotheses among podcast users), he systematically adopts direct speech and the present indicative, as in the soliloquy of May 12, 2025, where he reports the interrogation of Alberto Stasi using alternating first person – both for the fancifully hypothesized questions of the investigators, and for the virtual responses of Alberto Stasi; in the presence of readings of the facts or of adverse evidence (coming from journalists, YouTubers, podcasters, users), Sempio, after having read or memorized and produced them aloud, interjects them with personal, dry and hyperbolic comments, such as ‘bullshit’ (as in the soliloquies of May 14 and 12, 2025), as well as ‘it’s not true’, ‘false’, ‘everything is wrong’ in line with a polemical and certainly not confessional register.”

Garlasco – “I don’t make deals and I will speak again,” insists Massimo Lovati, the former lawyer for Sempio, on the “machination” of 2017.

“Part of the 2017 investigation was dumped into today’s proceedings, so there’s a certain continuity, they could be interdependent.” With these words, Massimo Lovati, former lawyer for Andrea Sempio, reiterated the claim of a supposed “conspiracy” behind the investigation that nine years earlier involved the 38-year-old in the Garlasco crime. Lovati spoke this morning upon entering the Milan Courthouse, where the pre-trial hearing of the case against him for defamation was held. The accusation stems from statements made on March 13, 2025, outside the Montebello Barracks in Milan, when he described the 2017 investigation into Sempio as “the result of a conspiracy orchestrated by the defense of the Giarda Studio.”

Accompanied by his lawyer, Fabrizio Gallo, the 73-year-old from Vigevano denied the possibility of alternative proceedings. “I don’t plea bargain, I don’t ask for a suspended sentence,” he stated, explaining that nothing would happen “nothing” during today’s hearing. However, another point drew attention: Lovati announced that “later” he might make further statements about the case that led to his trial. “I will speak about the 2017 conspiracy, that’s why I am here,” he told the reporters.

Lovati was investigated and subsequently indicted by the Milan Public Prosecutor Fabio De Pasquale following a complaint filed by the lawyers Enrico and Fabio Giarda, children of Professor Angelo Giarda, the historic lawyer for Alberto Stasi, who was definitively convicted for the murder of Chiara Poggi.

The indictment charges Lovati not only with the statements made outside the Command Legion Carabinieri Lombardia barracks, where Sempio had gone for DNA collection after the reopening of the investigation, but also with a long series of statements made to national television and broadcasts. According to the prosecution, Lovati allegedly told viewers of Tg1, Tg2, Tg3, SkyTG24, La7, Mediaset, Milano Pavia Tv, Fanpage, Antenna 3 and programs like Quarto Grado, Le Iene and Mattino Cinque that “the 2017 investigation” was “the result of a manipulation organized by the investigators of the defense studios of Stasi,” adding that Sempio’s DNA had been “clandestinely taken” in 2016.

Lovati’s statements come as the Garlasco case continues to reignite the debate between the defense teams involved in the new investigative phase. In an interview with Repubblica, Antonio De Rensis, defender of Alberto Stasi alongside lawyer Giada Boccellari, reiterated that the defense’s work will continue without hesitation. “No judicial action can slow me and my colleague Boccellari in trying to establish what we consider to be the truth: Alberto Stasi is innocent. Especially after reading the documents from Pavia,” the lawyer stated.

According to De Rensis, the new evidence in the investigation “further distances Alberto from the responsibilities established by the verdicts” and represents “an enormous, deeper and more complex job than I could have imagined.” The lawyer then harshly criticized certain reconstructions that emerged in the media debate surrounding the case. “I am dismayed to read and hear an investigated making suppositions of corruption about Napoleone and Civardi. And even more so certain of your colleagues giving the poor imbecile carabinieri. I believe it is more than legitimate to doubt these media,” he declared, adding: “From the moment I worked alongside Giada Boccellari, I imagined this would happen.” Finally, De Rensis commented on the complaint filed against him by Stefania Cappa, Chiara Poggi’s cousin. “I keep to myself what I think. Certainly, when she made her report public, I defended myself on TV with Milo Infante: I believe I have the right to do so,” he concluded.

The article Garlasco – “I don’t plea bargain and I will speak again” the ex-lawyer of Sempio, Massimo Lovati, insists on the “conspiracy” of 2017 originates from Il Fatto Quotidiano.
