Mozzarella di Bufala e Jabugo Dop, a Barcelona the European twinning of taste.

AGI – This is not just a culinary pairing, but a true iron pact between two giants of European agro-food. At the International Alimentaria fair, taking place in Barcelona from March 23 to 26, Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP and Prosciutto Jabugo DOP will celebrate a gastronomic partnership that promises to redefine the concept of “international aperitivo.” The initiative, promoted by the respective Protection Consortia, puts two absolute excellencies head-to-head. On one side, the milky freshness of Campanian buffalo mozzarella; on the other, the aromatic complexity of Jabugo, the prized Andalusian ham obtained from Iberian pigs raised outdoors in the Sierra de Huelva. The declared objective goes beyond simple promotion: the aim is to strengthen the culture of products with protected designation of origin (PDO), pillars of the European Union’s agricultural economy, presenting them as ambassadors of the territories and centuries-old traditions they represent.

The Schedule
The schedule of appointments is packed, with the Mozzarella di Bufala Campana Protection Consortium as a protagonist within the Campania Region collective (Pavilion 2 – Stands C61/D61). In addition to the partnership, Campanian buffalo mozzarella will live moments of glory alone: Monday, March 23, will be the protagonist of a “pure” tasting and, in the evening, will be the queen of an event off the fair in the heart of Barcelona. “The partnership represents a concrete example of European gastronomic diplomacy,” said Domenico Raimondo, president of the Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP Protection Consortium. “In a global market seeking authenticity, the union with Jabugo demonstrates that PDOs are true cultural ambassadors of their territories.”

The Value of Collaboration
The same opinion holds for the Consortium director, Pier Maria Saccani, who emphasizes the uniqueness of the operation: “We are making different supply chains dialogue, a fresh cheese and a cured meat, which however share the same territorial soul. It’s a way to create new opportunities for joint promotion and tell stories of landscapes and traditions passed down through generations.”

Increasingly severe rainstorms put people and structures built on floodplains at risk

Since 16 January, nine named storms have battered the western #Mediterranean, with #Spain, #Portugal and #Morocco hardest hit.

In Spain, #flooding and infrastructure damage from heavy winds forced over 12,400 evacuations, affected 115,000 people in 19 villages in the Sierra de Cádiz, and led the Spanish Government to commit more than €7 billion in aid, with an additional €1.78 billion from the #Andalusian regional government.

Portugal recorded six fatalities during #Storm Kristin, with winds up to 202 km/h leaving one million people without electricity and causing widespread structural damage, and the Portuguese Government has already committed to supporting the reconstruction with a package of €3.5 billion.

In northern Morocco, flooding caused 43 deaths, displaced 300,000 people and inundated 110,000 homes, prompting a €280 million recovery plan.

While the high winds were exceptional and caused part of the damages, the most severe impacts are due to the heavy rain accompanying each storm that led to flooding in various regions. Later in the season the increasingly saturated soils also contributed to the flooding.

The Andalusian (V2.0) - 2013;

One the places that I absolutely wish to visit again (unfortunately, can't). I gained access to this place by virtue of being a member of a photography group, and the founder and leader of that group has connections. Now, that I'm not a member of anything, such places are not easy to access.
This building is (to me) a marvel of Arabic and Andalusian architecture. I've always told my friends then (and now), that I could be left there for months, and I won't run out of ideas to photograph.
This version is a remake of the original one, from RAW files instead of HDR.

This is at Casino in Torrevieja in Spain, a gem to explore by historical style lovers. It´s a blend of various styles and an absolute time travel capsule, you'll find #artnouveau, #artdecostyle, #andalusian style, a touch of Arabic influences and #eclecticdecor all in one place and in perfect harmony. Here is just a selection and more of my "micro-museum experience" can be found at MagnificentH.
