Today I went for a ride to Ashton Canal Park between the canal of the same name and the River Medlock after it emerges from under the City Stadium on the former site of Bradford Colliery in East Manchester to see if the wild fritillaries there were flowering yet. They were, and I got the bonus of an orange fungus and harvesting wild garlic. Unfortunately, the park is marred by fly-tipping. It would be good if the council put as much effort into litter picking as they put into completely unnecessary grass mowing!
