It's unhinged and swallowing whole!

I was lucky to come across a predator-prey interaction in action at the local park! A garter snake had just caught a toad and I was able to record the event.

Mute if you'd rather not hear me updating my wife (she didn't care to watch) or hear the toad squeaking.

Western Toad (#Anaxyrus #boreas) - California subspecies (A. b. #halophilus) - not too far geographically from the type specimen, I mention that because I believe A. boreas is a cryptic species complex.
