An article published in the journal "Communications Biology" reports the assignment of fossils discovered in Anatolia in 2015 to a new species of primitive hominins named Anadoluvius turkae. A team of researchers examined these fossils that form a partial skull discovered at the Çorakyerler site dating back to about 8.7 million years ago, in the Miocene period.
