From the World of John Wick: Ballerina

映画「ジョン・ウィック」シリーズといえばKeanu Reeves演じる主人公John Wickが組織を相手に1人立ち向かう無双ぶりが楽しいガンアクション映画ですが、そのスピンオフ作品である「バレリーナ: The World of John Wick」が、「ブレードランナー2049」や「007/ノー・タイム・トゥ・ダイ」のAna de Armasを主演に製作されたということで非常に楽しみにしていたので、早速観に行ってきました。

主人公はカルト集団に父親を殺されたEveという少女で、その後Continental Hotelの支配人によってJohn Wickの育ての親であるRuska RomaのThe Directorに預けられ、バレリーナとして、また暗殺者として育てられ、復讐の機会を伺う、というストーリーです。まあ、本作もストーリーはそんなに凝ったものでなくても、カッコいいアクションが見られればそれでいいという作品ではないでしょうか。

しかし、最終的に敵対することになるのは予想を超える規模の集団となってしまい、どうなることかと思いました。また、John Wickが登場することはわかっていましたが、どういう形になるのか、敵になるのか味方なのかもわからず、ちょっとドキドキするところでもありました。

Ana de Armasは非常に魅力的な女性ですが、この作品ではそんな女性としての魅力を見せるところはなく、ストイックでハードボイルドな暗殺者に徹しているところも素晴らしいです。しかし、John Wickほど圧倒的に強く隙がないということでもなく、まだまだ未熟な面を見せるのは、今後この作品もシリーズ化してその成長を見せてくれるということなのかも、と勝手に期待しています。
