@GhostOnTheHalfShell Oh, and I wanted to mention a town on the North Shore of #Massachusetts -- #AmesburyMA. Where the speed limit is 30 mph EVERYWHERE! Even on the main drag and rural back roads! Back when I used to visit there, I was always pleased by that, and wished more places would adopt that rule (and enforce it).

I was at the Rocky Hill Meeting House in #AmesburyMA today. It was a sermon from 1775.

Something about illegal taxes, liberty, bad actors in power....

I am here for plenty of rainbow things, but the bagels were just a step to far for me....

But I bought all the other stuff, including that fresh August sweet corn. 🌽 🌽 🌽

UB40, Little Baggariddim, 1985 on DEP International / A&M

Great EP by UB40 from the mid-eighties, including a duet with Chrissie Hynde covering Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe,” with a dub version on side 2. There’s also a new version of “One In Ten” from Present Arms

There’s a full album called Baggariddim – this EP was only released in the US and Canada in support of a tour.

My copy—via Mel’s Record Shop in Amesbury MA—is a 1985 Indianapolis pressing.

Squeeze, Cool for Cats, 1979 on A&M

Second album from the late 70s power-pop version of Squeeze (aka UK Squeeze) with Jools Holland joining Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook. The “UK Squeeze” name was ropped for later releases in the US, but was still used in Australia up through Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti.

This album includes the title track as well as “Up the Junction,” and “Goodbye Girl” which were hits in the UK and definitely […]

David Bromberg, Wanted Dead or Alive, 1974 on Columbia

I’m a huge David Bromberg fan – he’s an under-appreciated player in the universe of bluegrass/blues/folk/jazz. This was his third LP. One side was recorded with Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Keith Godchaux and Bill Kreutzmann (of the Grateful Dead) and the other side was recorded live.

The opener “The Holdup” was cowritten with George […]

Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, San Antonio Ballbuster, 1974 on Red Lightnin’

Although it was originally released in 1974 on Red Lightnin’, my copy is a reissue from 1979 on Charly Records. Red Lightnin‘ is a blues label started in 1968; Charly a reissue label started in 1975; both are UK labels.

Not sure how this ended up in Mel’s Record Shop in Amesbury MA, but that’s where I found it. Added […]
