In order to regain congressional representation, the rebel states had to ratify the 14th Amendment. It took some of the very long โ Maryland 1959, California also 1959, Kentucky 1976, Ohio & New Jersey re-ratified in 2003 โ but they finally did, to hide under "Republican" cover, obviously never completely saying goodbye to rebellion => Jan 6 insurrection/ rebellion.
Mildly said, the "GOP's" loyalty to the United States Constitution is extremely questionable, as congressional "Republicans'" rebellion against the duly certified 2020 Electoral College votes proved.
The specter of confederate resurgence has no place in any United States Congress bound to nationally/federally & internationally accepted & shared laws, rules, norms & values.
Racist revisionism missed its own burial decades ago.
