This *New Republic* article on brain drain from Red States has been making the rounds. But one shocking statistic I saw in there is infant mortality in one county of Mississippi at 9.39 deaths per 1000. Which is like, one in a hundred babies dying because religious kooks interfere with actual doctors doing their jobs!
