Magic on Main Street at the American Sign Museum

Magic on Main Street at the American Sign Museum

It was nice to get name-checked in this Cincinnati Magazine piece about the book I wrote for the American Sign Museum:
The photo shows the book in-situ on the Museum's flagship 'Main Street' installation, which frames original historic signs in/on storefronts constructed and decorated to reflect different eras of America's commercial past.

I just voted for the American Sign Museum in USA Today’s competition to name the country’s Best Pop Culture Museum.
You can too, here:

Signs — they’re all around us, and they’re emblematic of American free enterprise, tourism, and advertising. This museum in Cincinnati about commercial signs and sign-making covers 40,000 square feet of indoor space and over a century of American history. Kids will be fascinated with the colors and shapes all around them, and adults will reminisce about signs from their childhoods. Whether it’s a lawyer’s bronze door sign, advertising brochures, antique sign painter’s kits, or a 1944 Dodge crane truck for installing signs, this museum has it all.

Photo by Natalie Grilli from our book, https://bl.ag/a-sneak-peek-inside-the-american-sign-museum-book/:
"Rock City in Chattanooga, TN, was founded by Garnet and Frieda Carter in 1932, and established itself as a popular botanical and geological tourist destination. Visitors came to see Frieda’s beautiful gardens and the views (of seven states on a clear day) from the top of the mountain nearby."

The American Sign Museum book makes it to Canada and poses in front of Elaine Wallis' test piece for one of the Museum's internal murals. Sadly the final mural didn't make it into the book, but it was featured in BLAG 06 (https://bl.ag/06).

@DanMorgan The American Sign Museum has what is believed to be the last authentic 'Great Sign' in existence. It's displayed at the entrance and, once you step inside, there's also a scale replica that was used for things like trade shows and also the original blueprints for its design.
