Religious “Nones” are now the largest cohort in the U.S.

Pew Research Center found that the US religiously unaffiliated adults — meaning they consider themselves to be “atheists,” “agnostics” or “nothing in particular” — has grown to 28%, up from 16% in 2007.

Nones tend to be young, white, male and liberal.

And researchers say they could change electoral politics in the coming decades — if they can be persuaded to go to the polls. Read the story or give it a listen.
