I don't actively hate the music of Hovhaness, but I find it difficult to distinguish one piece of his from another. They all seem to lapse into something that sounds like the score of a 16mm educational film of the fifties about the natural wonders of the American west.

Perhaps I'm just an insensitive philistine -- or perhaps not.
