OMG i have sewing patterns by Ralph Rucci and he’s in this Liza joint because he was one of Halston’s apprentices and Halston became Liza’s main designer and friend.

whenever i hear STUDIO 54 i immediately think of all the pics i saw in fashion mags of Halston, Liza and Bianca Jagger striking a pose at the club.

funny how i like Ralph Rucci because his patterns can be so unique. and he’s just part of Liza’s universe.

Ira Gershwin was Liza’s goddad. like… what kinda Broadway royalty!

the thing about being a Liza is that, notwithstanding her nepobaby status, she is the most talented and hardworking nepobaby in the history of USA entertainment.

you cannot just stan. you gotta be proud to be named after someone so special.

Saw an #AmericanMasters episode on #PBS about the deaf actress Marlee Matlin the other day, who spoke at length about her relationship with William Hurt & her performance in the movie #ChildrenOfALetterGod for which she won the #Oscar for #BestActress in 1986.

So, I decided to watch the movie which I had passed on previously. I liked the movie but what was going thru my head as I watched it was how Matlin & Hurt seemed as ill suited for each other in the film, as they were in life.

Matlin revealed that Hurt had abused her in their relationship off screen & it seemed to be mimicked on the screen as well. I liked that Matlin's character stopped putting up with Hurt's characters sh*t & went out on her own. Didn't like that they ended up back together in the end because of the obvious defects in their relationship, which as all of us old folks know, always remain after a break up & a reunion.

For relationships, if it doesn't work, very seldom can it be fixed. 🤷‍♂️

After watching the #PBS #AmericanMasters program on the life of the virtuoso pianist #HazelScott, I was reminded that I have her album "Relaxed Piano Moods" in my LP collection.

What's really interesting about this album apart from it's delightful sound is that while Scott is the lead player, her "backup" players for #MaxRoach & #CharlesMingus who (at the time (1955) were just emerging as two of the greatest #ModernJazz (#PostBop) musicians of the era who have since become legends of jazz.

Roach had only started playing with #Brownie (#CliffordBrown) in 1954 (who tragically died in a car accident just 2 years later) and it was only a year later in 1956 that #Mingus released his epic album "Pithecanthropus Erectus."

It is also notable the #DebutRecords which was the label that released this recording was founded by Roach & Mingus in 1952 (& went out of business in 1957) and that they thought so highly of Scott that they presumably volunteered to serve as her sidemen on the album!
