Today is Operation Concourse Presence.
I'm ok with this. The station still has a hum of travellers and the answers are simple today.

A) Go to Manchester Victoria
B) Go to tram to X (can also be Victoria)
C Go to Platform 13b (satellite lounge and wait for train to be called)
D) Go to Station Approach Rd, Stops 1, 2, 3 or 4 depending on destination.

(Do not pass Go).

Hung out with a lovely bunch of trans kids and the Token Cis Ally earlier.
The kids are alright.

Was lovely to have a good chat before helping them on their way ☺️🏳️‍⚧️

Also, it's amazing that in 30mins, everything changes from sleepy morning vibes to a busy hubbub and the coming and going of trains.
It's a complete turnaround in feeling, much more energetic and gotta get your head in the game because now I'm very definitely "on"

Good morning.

Sunday mornings are weird.
The station feels very empty, gatelines open and a very empty shed. Just 3 trains in currently.

Passengers arriving in drips & drabs.

Very sleepy vibe as the day gets off to a start.

Trains run on unusual platforms, which definitely keeps us on our toes.
It's like Station Control just wants to play with their trains.

It's a Saturday morning. Duty calls.
The station is a hubbub of activity, travellers going in all directions.

Just wandered onto the concourse and platforms, trying to get a proper feeling for the day and tune into it all.

It always feels a bit disorienting at first but everything will come to me eventually and I can get on with the day.

Today is like a game of Ticket to Ride.

Can't do Manchester to Sheffield, so build a route via Leeds.
Can't do Edinburgh or Glasgow, build a route through Crewe or Wigan.
Can't do Hadfield or Glossop. Um, no. No route available.

At least I'm not paying extra for tunnels...

Yesterday was a long work day! (it's okay, it was by my own choice)

Going to have a number of those in January I think. We have project that *really* needs to get done in the first quarter, and I think we're on track for it, but we do seem to be in a phase at the moment of "oh, here's a new wrinkle..."

In any case, I'm very grateful to have what seems to be steady work, with good people, not doing evil things.
