@veronica I see many of these "sacrifices" as net benefits.

  • Not having Microsoft Office forces people to use Open Standards like OpenDocument!
    • Not implementing proprietary codecs almost exclusively harms value-removing Rentseekers like MPEG-LA!
    • Lack of tight integration means Freedom of Choice.
    • Not having a bloated garbage App available forces corporations to maintain proper websites.
  • Not supporting Malware like "Client-Side Anticheat"*and *Always-Online "DRM" is a win for consumers.

The issues encountered can all be attributed to corporations being assholes as in actively antagonizing consumers!

  • I've yet to see any exception to that [and ableism] in real - life!

@kirtai @landley Apologies for me ranting...

Shit like #AlwaysOnlineDRM and/or dysfunctional Downloads with #eBooks is just making my blood boil as it's #ValueRemoving to the end-user!

@amy @wakame nop, I just refuse to accept binary trash like #XLS or #OOXML garbage and only accept #OpenDocument, #PDF and #PlainText [either #encrpyted with #OpenPGP or not if transport & media is encrypted]...

But that's just me not willing to work with #Govware that has #AlwaysOnlineDRM and their purposefully dysfunctional file formats.

I just don't have the amount of #Copium needed to accept that shit!

#rant ended!

@Yeekasoose @kura

Well, congrats it was just something that "legacy" and not like "I can't legally use
#Windows because #Microsoft refuses to comply with #GDPR & #BDSG!" or "#AlwaysOnlineDRM bricks #MicrosoftOffice!"
'
But then again, some folks refuse to accept that switching to #Linux & @libreoffice is the only way to make #change happen...

@vv221 @gamingonlinux

I don't disagree - I just say that so far I've yet to see #Steam stealing peoples' games from their accounts.

And yes, #Valve managed to get people into liking their #AlwaysOnlineDRM as a "#feature" to the point devs get harrassed for not publishing on Steam, which is more than condemnable but inexcuseable by those doing said harrassment...

@Nuttenpapst ich würd's aus prinzip nicht spielen, weil Activision ist shice und weil #AlwaysOnlineDRM in nem #Singleplayer ein #WontBuy für mich ist!
@KaylinEvergreen don't since your purchase will tell the industry that you like #AlwaysOnlineDRM in a #Singleplayer game...
@utopify_org well, I've decided to boycott #AlwaysOnlineDRM and #Enshittification entirely...

@utopify_org

And that's why I'll refuse to buy shit with #AlwaysOnlineDRM...

@spytfyre consider using #OISD as #blocklist #feed since it has basically no #FalsePositives...

Tho you may need to find out the specific servers used to serve #ads.

Unlike #YouTube they'll unlikely host the #ads on the same nodes as their shitty #AlwaysOnlineDRM and #Multiplayer...
