Gerade das erste Handy (Xiaomi Redmi 9) für das #Wechselcafé mit e/OS bespielt und die ersten Apps installiert.

Topp, alles läuft und kommt zu 99% aus F-Droid.

Die Entsperrung des Smartphones hat eine Woche gedauert, da Xiaomi 168 Stunden(!) Wartezeit verlangt, bevor man das Gerät überbügeln kann. Das es überhaupt geht ist ja anscheinend immernoch ein Ding.

Ubuntu - ein Starterpaket

Der Begriff Ubuntu stammt aus den Sprachen der afrikanischen Völker Zulu und Xhosa und steht für "Menschlichkeit" und "Gemeinsinn", aber auch für den Glauben an ein universelles Band des Teilens, das alles Menschliche verbindet.

Aktuell, zum Wechsel von Win10 auf Win11 startet Ubuntu eine Charme-Offensive. Kostenlos und frei verfügbar, hat Ubuntu schon so manchem "altersschwachen" Computer ein zweites Leben geschenkt.

Installiere es als zweites Betriebssystem neben Windows, vergleiche es, teste es, probiere es aus. Linux ist "for free". Was hast Du zu verlieren?

Ich nutze seit 2013 für PC, Laptop, Tablet & Smartphone ausschließlich Linux.

Linux ist wie guter Sex! Man kann darüber reden oder schreiben, genau weiß man es aber erst, wenn man es erlebt hat.

Developer @X512 has successfully ported Nvidia kernel drivers to Haiku. The driver will support Turing+ GPUs and already includes Vulkan integration via Mesa's NVK.

Initial tests are working and show potential for future uses, including AI acceleration with llama.cpp.

A major step forward for the Haiku ecosystem and hardware compatibility!

Bon, je crois que j'ai fait mon choix : ce sera /e/OS/.
En fait, je n'ai pas tellement approfondi, mais que ce soit français, finalement, ça m'a motivé. Donc, je lis bien les docs, avec Easy Install, ça a l'air simple et rapide, je me pose un peu, et la semaine prochaine, je passe mon Pixel 4a en /e/OS/.

I have been an enthusiastic user of W10 and an insider since I upgraded from W8 (which I installed on a new build machine to try it out).

But while I still think the OS is stable and usable, the dreadful stuff that they are draping all over it to make money is driving me to absolute distraction, and I think this copilot nonsense is ridiculous. And Edge has become unusable.

I am now looking for an alternative.
