Someone on the Godzilla movie had the bright idea to ask, of all bands, Rage Against the Machine for a track? And not only did Rage say yes, but they delivered a blistering screed against mindless consumption, anti-capitalism, the rise of anti-intellectualism, entertainment as propaganda, and American Exceptionalism which included a Fuck You as explicit as the line "Godzilla pure motherfucking filler". And it still made it on to the soundtrack?!
It's been almost 25 years and I still haven't recovered from the audacity.

Musings on growing up as an #AltBlackGirl
I listened to mostly rock and new wave music growing up. It drove me crazy when my family would make fun of my for listening to yt music. Like, you sent me to a school that I was 1/3 of the black student population, you let me watch way too much Mtv (this was back when they actually played music all day kids), & y'all don't play music at home. Fuck did you think was gonna happen?
White people didn't invent nor do they own rock music (Country music neither actually). Which is why my #sotd for #BlackFriday is brought to you by Bad Brains.
