Lyran Manticore VSTOL Aerofighter, Battletech Gothic.

Not nearly as fast as most fighters, or even bombers, the Manticore's agility is so far beyond them that it has a record of suddenly pivoting and snatching unwary fighters straight out of the air, using its strong tail stinger to inject a foreign agent into their fuel tank, and letting go to fly away as the ship explodes behind.

Got the base ready for final detailing, the mini attached, all the fur blocked in, and the shadows/depths for the wings. Also, the nearly black brown for the tail. The hard part is going to be fitting the Lyran Commonwealth color scheme onto the armor and getting the heraldry on. Maybe I can "tattoo" the heraldry on the wings, like it's a WIGE.

Behold, thou gentles, for I have returned, and am very much back on my bullshit.

I’m not pre-ordering the new 40k edition. I will probably get my codexes when they come out, but I’m just not playing it much anymore.

I am pre-ordering the new stuff for Battletech. Even though I mostly intend to play Alpha Strike I’d like to try to new “classic” core.

Need to find time to play another Scouring Sands mission.

I have a mixed relationship with Battletech.

The 2nd ed boxed set and maps all over the floor was my first experience. The game took seconds in game, but many hours in real time. Still, I loved the concept. Yeah, mechas are goofy and makes no sense, whatever.

When I bought and tried Alpha Strike it was as if all the promise of the game had been fulfilled! Big games of combined arms where possible. Just imagine. I will never play Classic again as long as I live.

The innovative development from the SEED program, the Skygrasper is a battlefield delivery aerospace fighter, dropping equipment to Strike Gundam as needed. It shown here with the maneuver pack, ready for delivery.

The skygrasper can make use of the modules itself, as well, including the sword and launcher, and earned its first stripe by spearing a drone with the sword midair.

The same test mech, this time with a giant plasma sword, its cutting blade capable of lopping a limb off anything short of an assault mech, or getting some extra reach with the conventional metal blade on the tip.

The white stripe is indicative of progress in testing, with each successful test widening the stripe, until the torso and head are all white, ready for production.

The Draconis Combine went large, eschewing the unsamurailike shields in favor of giant fucking weapons, in this case a (two) hand held heavy gauss rifle, caught here mid-flight as the test pilot improvised a partial jump jet maneuver to offset the kick of the rifle, thrusting him backward a good thirty meters.

This maneuver was clipped and used for the sizzle reel, obviously.

I think that's all the red done, and the grey stripe down the center as well. Just need to finish the weapons and maybe do the glow of the eyes in the head, if I'm feeling it, then it's attitude of the knife time.
