Join the Allston Brighton Health Collaborative, City of Boston, and Bluebikes for a 3.5-mile Bluebikes-only community bike ride on Saturday, July 19 at 11:00am. The route and pace are beginner friendly, particularly for folks new to biking and/or new to Bluebike-ing. We'll spend a good amount of time in the beginning going over how to use the Bluebikes and get you comfortable using them in safe environment before venturing out to the neighborhood. We will meet at the Herter Park Bluebikes station. Free Bluebikes coupons will be provided. The ride is expected to take around one hour and will end at Herter Park. The Mass Pike should be narrowed! But MassDOT is insisting they need to design for 20% more cars than are there today, and that could cost the project hundreds of millions of dollars.

"We are devastated to learn of the passing of Samuel Alvarado, who was killed after being hit by a garbage truck driver while biking this morning in Allston. The fatal crash happened at the Cambridge and Hano St intersection.
"Our hearts are with Samuel's loved ones.
"This tragic crash highlights two key dangers that people who bike face: unsafe roadways and large trucks. Safety improvements for this area are long overdue - as are safety improvements for large vehicles that are driven on our streets.
Samuel should be alive today. #VisionZero
