HesperalisDug the last of the leeks yesterday. Although not the biggest, no sign of leek moth or the dreaded allium leaf mining fly, which is good news for this years onions and shallots.

My friend's little allotment was looking much as I had left it on Tuesday (So much for my visiting everyday, eh?! ๐). On the big one 3 beds made for the poly tunnel, and two of them planted up.
In the small allotment, a small "temporary greenhouse" was built, and filled with potted on seedlings.
We also put in our 1st early potatoes, and did a lot of preparation for the main growing season.

Pricked out leeks, potted on tomato seedlings. Sown more seeds today. More tomato Bloody Butcher as the seedlings that I potted on yesterday have given up the ghost. The Latah tomato's seem to be OK so far. A few flowers to join them as well. Night scented stocks, Nicotianias and cosmos.

elbowcrookerThis is my monthly view up the allotment for the end of February - a bit late, I know.
A large patch has been cleared ready for potato planting later in March if the weather stays mild and reasonably dry.
The smoke is coming from my burner. New allotment rules stipulate that bonfires must be contained, so I'm using an old washing machine drum to burn prunings etc.
The garlic has survived the winter very well under the protection of the plastic cloches.
