For anyone with allergies, I just found out that a lot of companies use potato starch to seal teabags in the UK, not sure about other countries.

I don’t drink tea, and usually have dried mint leaves if I have peppermint tea.

We need nightshade and allium highlighted on food. Someone could get very sick because of this.

1st experiment with sweet potato pastry was a success. This was half a medium sweet potato, mashed with a little butter, salt and pepper (all I can tolerate at the moment) and about a tablespoon of 100% rice flour (nothing added to it.)

Kneaded dough briefly, then pressed into a greased muffin tray (silicone) and baked for 12 mins, then turned upside down, so the bottom could crisp up.

I’m very happy with it ☺️

Looking up the difference between allergies and sensitivities, I definitely have an allium allergy.

My upper respiratory tract gets involved after ingesting them. I’m also just linking the possibility that my contact dermatitis might be related to them as well?

I tried again to recreate my mom's mushroom and rice recipe without onions. This time I used four types of mushrooms and twice as many altogether. I also tripled the herbs. (It was too much marjoram but that has inspired me for next time. I'm going to add rosemary and parsley to the sage, thyme and marjoram.) I put a third of the herbs and a finely diced stalk of celery in with the rice to cook since I'm not using broth.

Neatly sliced mushrooms courtesy of the teenager. I am experimenting with making old favorites without the onions or garlic. Trying to make my new allium-free lifestyle a little less pathetic.

(As bland as my food is, it is so delightful to not be in constant pain and not associate eating with misery.)
