Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody
This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.

Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

June 28 - the birthday of Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) - a Flemish artist and diplomat. His unique and immensely popular Baroque style emphasized movement, color, and sensuality, which followed the immediate, dramatic artistic style promoted in the Counter-Reformation. Rubens was a painter producing altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and #history paintings of #mythological and #allegorical subjects.

Thanks to @Michaelvaliant for the prompt. It helped me come up with a piece of writing to give context to this Altered Book composition. 🙏

Orson Scott Card speaks, and the assemblage of defiant flowers, furiously fuchsia, responds in a chorus of Greensleeves. Their voices raise in a cacophony of old packing tape, declaring that a #homophobic #racist science fiction author's name should be reduced to a scrap of paper in a Dadaist collage, and his books altered to call out his far right conservative smug hypocrisy.

His tongue, coated in the chipped paint of denialism, spit out "not-a-racist, not-a-racist". The asemic excuses grew into giant glyphs; trodding across text like #HGWells' #Martians. Rising above the characters from childhood's heroes, warring against reason and empathy, winged glyphs tangle with meaning.

Babbling brooks pursued the debate over rocky credibility, bleeding burps of sanguinity. Puzzlement pasted pieces to the page, overlaying tape tap-danced a tango of fettered comic-strips, while Karl Marx and Harpo helped the refugees cross the border into a collage of myths and mislabelled truths.

The weary knight rode over the typographical horizon and into an empty dénouement of tangled shoelaces, that set like the sun in a frying pan. The Volkswagen turned the page and fell into the conclusion - #Allegorical confusion.
