Looking at the history of shortlisted and winning books for this prestigious popular science writing prize, I’m kinda shocked but not shocked how terrible the gender balance has been historically… only moderating slightly in the past few years:

For many years, the shortlists are all men.

The question is whether the gender balance of authors writing (or rather, being paid to write) good popular science books has suddenly improved – or has the nomination and shortlisting process improved?

Llevamos unas semanas viendo ejemplos de eso de los #allmalepanels que esperábamos hubieran desaparecido de la vida pública, pero es que cuando se trata de instituciones o asociaciones científicas da más grima aún. ¿De verdad no hay nadie en la organización de estos actos que se de cuenta de algo tan elemental? Por mucho que toda la sociedad vaya evolucionando mientras no consigamos erradicar esta misoginia no avanzaremos de verdad.
