A beautiful garden has been laid out at Thurant Castle near Alken on the lower Moselle (Rhineland-Palatinate), which is only partially in ruins. Visitors can also enjoy the café, and those who wish to and have the necessary funds can even stay overnight in the castle.

Thuran(d)t Castle, located above the wine-growing village of Alken on the Moselle (Mayen-Koblenz district, Rhineland-Palatinate), is thought to have been built around 1200. From the middle of the 13th century, the archbishoprics of Cologne and Trier were joint owners of the castle. Its two parts were separated by a wall, and each part had its own keep.
Today, the castle is owned by an industrialist family from Friesland.
