I would've got this up earlier, but for chore distractions, and the hunt for two AA batteries.

First run of March, and 4th Half Marathon of 2026, essentially ran to the other half's work for a cheeky kiss, then ran around, up and over 3 unforgiving hills on the way home, after running up 1 on my way out. Not my quickest, not my slowest, but a first deciding 4 nasty gradients in 21.15km was normal.

An excellent run to end the month.
No head torch today, I went out an hour later, deliberately in time for sunrise, and daylight though it was obscured by the clouds

Only 30% of this run was Zone 2, the rest of the time I was having too much bloody fun. Drills of 50m strides and 50m sprints in each of the last 3km. Plus a march up a 20% gradient hill, turns out it's quicker and more efficient than running it. Cool.

Beautiful sunrise run today, although Polar flow was advising me to take a rest day today, but If I was going to run make it light
- ok, challenge accepted.

So, 10k at the low end of zone 2, I would've said my rate of perceived exertion was 2, occasionally 3 this morning.

At this turtle speed I could've run to Valletta, Polar flow was pleased with this run, and my cardio load stayed as productive.

Another golden hour run, should've been earlier but the cats were campaigning for early breakfast.

Finally out after coffee & stretching, no niggles or annoyances today. An easy 10k at my last H.M pace, being mindful to stay mostly at rpe 3.

Down the tomatofield road today, though looking in the poly tunnels (which were open) they've rotated and are now growing squash, probably courgette - so Squashfield Road now. ๐Ÿคท

Out at the golden hour, which meant my run would be in the morning sun

My back started feeling stiff a half km in, which is weird because I did a good warmup and stretching before I left.
I thought I might have to turn back, but I stopped, did some more stretches, took the next km really easy, and I was soon underway.

So, this became an easy enjoyable morning in the Maltese countryside, a perfect start to the day

Despite not settling my alarm to get up for a run, I woke up 30minutes later than normal, with Yazz (my 2 year old female cat) prodding me in the head, as if to tell me I was late waking up to go for my run.

Soooo, I made a coffee on the Dolce, got changed, did my stretches and went out for a run

A quick tempo run, with strides and sprints, all around my immediate local area, and I have photo's, wahoo ๐Ÿ˜

Up nice and early, after a pretty good night's sleep, nice & motivated.
Started with 30mins Medicine Ball Warmup, Run Stretches and Core

Then out for a nice steady, easy, RPE 3 run.
Forgot to take a picture today, I was so in the zone. Only realised I hadn't when I got in - having too much fun, in between rescuing my hat (I forgot to readjust the band at the back after washing it on Wednesday...doh ๐Ÿคฆ)

Early morning shake out, after yesterday's Half. Needed to put something into the legs, and had decided on 7km as it was a third of yesterdays distance, and that seemed right.

There was no effort to stay in any particular HR zone, this was about the legs and getting a workout and having bags of fun.

I decided to take a photo just after the start and just before the end of my run, such a difference in 45mins.

Absolutely horrendous 40Kph westerly wind, that I was literally running into for the entirety of this accidental - deliberate half, that makes 2 HM's this month, oops.

This is actually the first Zone 2 & 3 half I've ever run, I am not breaking any records for this, but that's not the point is it, hopefully some fat was lost to the wind and the road. Polar flow says 44% fat burnt, so that's good.
