@Wavebeam

Not sure if it ticks every box, but AliasVault definitely covers at least a few of those. I believe the server is self hostable (more than Bitwarden there), and the client is available on FDroid. Not sure about clients on other platforms or Firefox extension.

To be honest, until I read that article, I was perfectly happy with Bitwarden. Scrubbing inclusion from your values though, screams willingness to comply with Trump in advance, which is not something I'm prepared to accept, especially in something as sensitive as a password manager.

What is an alias manager?

Imagine every website knows a different version of your email address.

One for shopping
One for social media
One for newslettersโ€ฆ

With #AliasVault your shopping interests stay separate from your social accounts.

Less tracking and spam. More privacy.

Giving #AliasVault a shot. Just spun up my container for it.
A few things, but most importantly...
The container setup is an all-in-one setup.
It would be nice to have it a bit less all-in-one, because now I have two Postgres servers running, side by side.
For no exact reason

Well, tried it and I like it! Has everything that I need.

- Works on all platforms
- #iOS app and #Safari extension
- Mobile app for login (still no TouchID on macs)
- Import from BW went with zero issues (items, passkeys, folders, 2FA...)

If I had to say something "negative" it would be the font and colour pallet but apart from that, all good so far. Very good version @aliasvault

@rusty1281

Same boat here. I do like the idea of something combining the email alias generation and login storage, so it can all be done in one go rather than having to go and generate an email alias, then input it in the account creation, then generate a password, enter it, save it all in the login vault etc. Not sure how seamless AliasVault makes this, but at the very least, the potential is there.

While I do love and use #Bitwarden, Iโ€™m always on the lookout for alternatives. In case VW will have issues with BW official apps and/or extension, #AliasVault might be my next #selfhosted password manager

AliasVault
#AliasVault #PasswordManager at first seemed interesting, especially since it's possible to #SelfHost, but between Claude ๐Ÿค– in .gitignore and the SMTP server being their own code in dotnet it does not seem like something I dare touch.
