Having just tooted a Guernsey car, here's one of my #AlderneyCars, #spotted back in 2015, nestling in a large (for Alderney) industrial building just off Marais Square.

It's a beautiful Renault 4, doing an impression of a #gumby, and looks to be in very good condition.

Definitely a #ClassicCar and it will probably bring back a few memories for MrsMBVW @megabreadvansworld

Here's a selection of #AlderneyCars snapped in 2015 on my favourite island.

This should serve as a warning to anyone who thinks they won't fill an excessively large driveway (looking at you @BitchinRob 😁).

A Ford #Transit (possibly a school bus), a relatively solid #Mini, a blue #Farina #Morris #Oxford and what I believe is an #Austin #Somerset from around 1952.

The Oxford had been a carpenter's workhorse as recently as 2011 when I saw it on the road. The rest were probably all in use too, as the tyres all look to have air in them!

Here's one of our #AlderneyCars from 2018: a slightly dog-eared Escort cabriolet that looks like it might even have been used for target practice. It's definitely one of those 'taken to the island to live out its days' cars that would probably have needed major work for an MoT. I'm no expert, but I'd go 1993-94 facelifted model - any experts care to confirm or deny?

And what's that in the background? It's a lifeboat, obviously.

Oh, you mean the metallic red one? Maybe next time...

High time we had one of the #AlderneyCars once again.

This picture dates back to June 2018 and features a rather lovely #Triumph #Herald 1200 from the early to mid-60s, with panel gaps that Tesla owners can only dream of! I imagine the fabled turning circle is put to good use on the island.

Owning an #Ioniq5 - which has a marginallly larger turning circle than the Ever Given - I'm so jealous.

#AlderneyCars time again...

The #Nissan #Figaro seemed to have acquired that mythical 'future classic' label within about a fortnight of being launched, and there are many, clearly well looked after examples out there.

But not all have been that lucky, as this down-at-heel example shows, spotted this year near Fort Tourgis on the island.

This week's #AlderneyCars offering is a shout out to @Basmitharts and @Mark - you wanted some love for #OnlyVans, so here's a #Daihatsu #Atrai 7 dating to the early 00s.

It's the sort of thing that's very popular on the island: #kei cars and tiny islands belong together. This one sports what I've seen described as an athletic front spoiler, plus the all-important bit of green wire on the wing mirror. It's still surprisingly tidy for its age. #Spotted in September 2023.

@Tiezep
I'd been scratching my head as to what to pick for this week's car from a small island but this thread decided for me.

Clearly *not* adored for some considerable time, this week's offering from #AlderneyCars is a compact hearse, pictured in 2023 at #Alderney airport.

It wasn't always there, so it's clearly still capable of some sort of movement.

It's that time again...

Not all #AlderneyCars have gone there to die, some have just come out to play.

Once a year, the Guernsey Motor Cycle and Car Club bring their toys with them for a day out and in 2012 that happened to coincide with one of our visits.

I can tell you absolutely nothing about it that you can't see in the picture, but it looks the business!

It's the weekend - time for another of my #AlderneyCars

Recap: #Alderney is a tiny island where cars go to stay or to die. I've visited a dozen times and, when I ran out of bays and forts to photograph, I started on cars...

This one will crop up again at some point. I never actually saw it on the road, although it did move around the land it was parked on.

From the late 50s, a #Morris Commercial LC4/5, photographed in 2009. See Alt text.

#Alderney has #cars (unlike Sark) and they must be 'roadworthy', but that's a very flexible term...

So let's see a few #AlderneyCars.

The #Daihatsu Move was a quirky kei car, not overly popular in the UK. When production ceased, it reappeared as the even less popular #Perodua Kenari. Fewer than 300 of those remain on the DVLA computer.

So how the hell have three ended up on Alderney? Actually, make that four, another one puttered past us on the way to dinner one night.
