Do you know Chumbawamba?

Most folk only know Tubthumping (a simple upbeat dance song), but their catalogue has a lot of political folk music, some gentle/silly folky tracks, some stuff that seems inspired by latin music, and even some strange editing experimentation that reminds me of the Avalanches (or Negativland, who Chumbawamba collaborated with for an EP).

I think my favourite album to show off their range is 'Un'.

Starting with some funky beats that you could dance to and surreal political lyrics. "on ebay" brings in some skat and more-folksy singing.

Everything You Know... is one of my favourite tracks, with a catchy melody featuring 'missing' words as a fun gimmick.

Then, they bring in the Hispanic influences in the next 2 songs, first with a gentle love song and then a song of frustration at financial disparity.

And that's just the first half! In the 2nd half you get a range of styles, witty lyrics, and it all just makes me smile and gets my head bopping.

Highly recommended.
