#Candina - Spirit Demise
(Disclaimer: I made the logo)
Candina is getting better with every new release. When first encountering them I've already been confident that the project would end up on the higher quality side with their songwriting abilities. I wouldn't have thought that it should happen so quickly, however. In such a way even that I would count this as one of the best releases of 2021.

#Irrlycht - Wolfish Grandeur
Solid old school German #blackmetal. The month has been dedicated to the German extreme metal scene and this new album by Irrlycht fits that perfectly, as it embodies essence of 90s bm with a primal and atmospheric approach matching the theme of wolfish grandeur. I especially like the varied vocals on this one.

#Friisk - ...un torügg bleev blot Sand
Just a stunning atmosphere of nautical melancholy. As Ahab is one of my favorite bands ever this aspect of Friisk's songwriting was what caught my attention the most. It's a very welcome signature sound in this landscape that is overfilled with decent atmo bm bands. Regardless of that, the quality of the songs themselves is well above average anyway.

#RiversLikeVeins - The Hidden Portals
A refreshing display of avant-garde & industrial elements in this otherwise straightforward (atmospheric) black metal offering. Solid riffs with very good composition and competent vocals. It's not the single elements that make this release stand out, it's the package as a whole.

#Икотка - Порча
( #Ikotka - Porcha )
The cover intrigued, the music gripped, the themes of domestic #abuse stuck. #Atmospheric #blackmetal with a touch of #depressive and #bleak that captures the content in a very subtle way, such that one doesn't even need to understand the lyrics to feel the message.
Favorite song: 03 - Опора

#Utkena - Nex Fornix
Continuing with a black/death sound this month's award goes to an outstanding band from #Greece.
Discovered this as the #IntoTheNecrosphere podcast's AOTY for 2020, which is a fully justified pick. There are some special tones in here that make this very #atmospheric while not deviating too much from the genre's usual sound
Favorite song: 01 - Hierophant
