@thisismyglasgow growing up in #AlbaNuadh , I recalled that almost every town had a ‘Co-op grocery store, there were building supply, agricultural hardware, and animal feed coop’s.
I also remember that when the big chain supermarkets arrived, they would have lower prices in communities with co-op’s than the ones without. UNTIL they shutdown the coop.

@lovethisland I visited the #hebrides ~15 yrs ago from #AlbaNuadh and experienced my first lay-by driving. Trouble was, I was pulling off on the wrong side, not being used to driving on THAT side of the road ( still don’t know how we made it from Glasgow to Oban in one piece). The locals were so patient and friendly and got me straightened out so I was ready for the metropolis of Stornoway. Tapadh leat!
