The Animals is the self-titled debut album by the British R&B/blues rock band the Animals. It was released in the United Kingdom on 6 November 1964 on EMI's Columbia Records

Review by Bruce Eder

The group's U.K. debut long-player, containing -- in the custom of the time in England -- not one of their singles up to that point, including "House of the Rising Sun." Apart from "Story of Bo Diddley" (which is, itself, heavily steeped in conventions out of Bo Diddley's repertory), everything here is a cover of traditional blues and R&B material, ..For adult orientation, The Animals is roughly on a par with the Rolling Stones' debut LP (though that album is also more fun). The group would do better in the future in a less stiff and intense posture, but this is a strong debut.

"Any Day Now" is a popular song written by #BurtBacharach and #BobHilliard in 1962. It has been recorded by numerous artists over the years, including notable versions by #ChuckJackson in 1962, #AlanPrice in 1965, #ElvisPresley in 1969, #ScottWalker in 1973 and #RonnieMilsap in 1982. In the lyrics, the singer predicts the imminent demise of a romantic relationship and describes the sadness this will leave.

Para los que piensen que las chupas vaqueras son de los 80: en 1965 ya eran históricas, beibeeees. Y si no, mirad la portada del "Rubber Soul" de #TheBeatles.

Having survived the apocalypse, Andrew and Dave have decided to pursue a far more meaningful goal: selling coffee in the northern parts of the UK! Okay, maybe they aren't selling coffee in the north, but Mick Travis, the protagonist of director Lindsay Anderson's O Lucky Man!, certainly is. What do the podcasting duo make of Anderson's not-exactly-a-sequel-to-If.... epic comedy? Is this the most likeable Malcolm McDowell has ever been on screen? And just how stellar is Alan Price's score to the film? Tune in and find out!Next Episode: Before Jackson, there was... BAKSHI!All music by Andrew Kannegiesser. Editing by Dave Babbitt.
