Checking out an album where Alan Lomax himself performs folk and blues songs he learned traveling across Texas. He has a good voice for rustic folk/country/blues.

A very old cowboy song, recorded in the XXth by many great songsters. From what I read, it was known thanks to the memory a black singing cowboy, #CharleyWillis. Here's a collect from #AlanLomax in #Texas

Another very very very ol' song with no certain writer, "Froggy went-a-courting", mentioned BTW in the last album of #LanaDelRey in "Kintsugi". That 🐸 tune seems to be originated from XVIth century England/Scotland and was countlessly recorded in US music in folk, pop and... #Rockabilly !

In honour of our new age of #OutlawHeroes, a blast from the past from way back in March 1940, #AlanLomax talking with #WoodyGuthrie about Charles Arthur Floyd whom you all know as #PrettyBoyFloyd
as through this world I've rambled
I've seen all kinds of men

some with a fountain pen
