We could have a surfing hotel without putting it in a public park. Putting it in a public park means the city has to do something with it if the private enterprise leaves. And I think we can all agree it doesn't make sense to build a pool right on heavily used public shoreline.

This is one instance where the city should be thrilled to sell the land.
