#LinuxAudio friends - are any of you using #HarrisonMixbus, and are any of you also familiar with #AirwindowsConsolidated

I've tried a demo of Mixbus (you just download and install it and run it in demo mode) and much looks familar, but crickey does it feel complicated in comparison to #BitwigStudio and despite the low entry cost I am happy with my current workflow (Bitwig).

What am I really asking? I'm thinking about #AudioEngineering and #MasteringAudio. I am confident in doing this for my own tracks, but when it comes to applying any sort of editorial decisions to tracks made by anyone else I find myself unsure and thinking "maybe they wanted it that way."

I would like to develop my skills and be able to say with any confidence that I have any clue of what I am doing and I am reluctant to throw myself down a rabbit hole of click-bait titled YT videos.

#LinuxAudio journey thoughts.

The YouTube producer #Stranjah has just released a fun demo of non-Linux plugin #BX_ToneBox which has all sorts of features - tube amp, console desk types, and tape output. All of these features are part of #AirwindowsConsolidated and it takes very little effort to apply all of Stranjah's signal processing in #BitwigStudio with AirwindowsConsolidated in a native #Linux environment.

Why 90s Jungle Sounded Better... And How to Recreate It Today (bx_tonebox)

A new track is emerging.

Is it #BonkWave or #NotBonkWave? It's got #BlippooBox, #AccessVirus, and #weirdness. A holiday study of found sounds, tones and synthesised harmonies. #ElectronicMusic made in #Linux with #BitwigStudio with lots and lots of #AirwindowsConsolidated and #AirwindowsConsoleH for tone and character.

More #AirWindowsConsolidated enthiusiasm from me. If you look closely at this #Spectrogram for a heavily distorted #808Bass you can see that the tone shaping is unique on each note (note the pattern of light and dark regions near the smeared main tones).

#LinuxAudio explorations - in my careful delving into #AirWindowsConsolidated I am finding that I really want a #Spectrogram to refer to so I can see the spectral changes that these different plugins bring to sound.

#ToneBoosters Spectrogram plugin works pretty well - once you set it up properly. May suggest to you that the first thing you do is to head to Settings in the upper right corner (not the lower left Settings) and scroll all the way down the list of options which are shown and enable GPU acceleration. When this is off on my PC it is virtually unusable. When on, it is smooth and easy to work with.

Thanks @linuxdaw for having a solution easy to hand!

@bazkie have you tried the #AirwindowsConsolidated plugins yet? There are some sound shaping tools that make bass and drums come alive in a delicious way that makes me think you might enjoy working with them too.

I am smitten by the #AirwindowsConsolidated plugins. They add a really nice colour and character to my sound that I have been trying to find. #Tape #Tube #Saturation #SoundDesign all in #BitwigStudio on #Linux and sounding really good.

The sound sculpting possibilities for bass, drums, pads and more are blowing my mind.

I want to put it on everything. It also plays nicely with my #distortion explorations with my #ShermanikFilterbank preset.

Here's a little beat that I cooked up as I ponder the world.

Dry at the start, DubSub comes in first on the bass and then my Shermanik Filterbank is added by 00:33. Filterbank drops back at 01:10, and ramps to full intensity at 01:30.

There's MackEQ on the bass drum and the whole drum set is being run through Tube and VerbTiny. The whole mix is then run through Tube again with a Peak Limiter to keep things in check.

@linuxaudiodevelopment @amadeus
#LinuxAudio folk, I have just stumbled on to the #AirwindowsConsolidated plugins (I am familiar with these from #VCVRack) and they are well worth checking out.

I've posted this to https://linuxdaw.org/
