How's heating electrification going on the Isle of Dogs?
Octopus and Heat Geek are strong advocates and each is telling its story.
I rather like the Heat Geek model and the effort they have put into training the trade.
I took the plunge here as my 2006 machine was ready for the care home. I installed a new Bosch IDS inverter air to air heat pump.
It has been a learning experience. The machine modulates itself for low supply air temperature. The air leaving the register is 1-2C warmer than the return air entering the air handler.
This is very much akin to 40C flow temperature and modulating flow temperature in UK high efficiency hydronic heating. I've had to learn the same lessons. Put it in Auto and sit on my hands.
My machine is not cold climate rated so output rolls off below 0C. Our heating design temperature is -5C and we've seen -8C (17F) this winter. Brrrr. Aux heat was on most of that week. 5 KW of PTC heating. Big bill, that.
