A woman falls in love with the son of her father's mistress. Having unavailable, undependable parents has affected all adult children. All the parents in this story are terrible in some way.

The cinematography is intimate, the sun never shines & the colors are washed out. The lighting, dialogue, music, echoing footsteps & poignant silence evoke melancholy. The pace is slow & lets us wallow in the anger, grief, & sadness the characters experience. Intriguing characters grow slowly. Great acting, especially by the leads, as they try to figure out love amidst familial betrayal & duty.

For me, the frustration with them allowing their lives to be ruined by their pasts dissipated as I saw them learning & growing. I ended up really enjoying this love story.

Don't let the first part throw you that’s not how the entire series is. This actually turned out to be a great female empowerment story. Women educating other women on sex and encouraging each other to decide what's right for themselves is what the entire story revolves around. The 2 romances are not the center of the show - you can't do that and the empowerment thing in 8, 35 min episodes - but they're developed enough that you can connect emotionally. The show was obviously shot with the female gaze in mind and did not disappoint there. It is educational, empowering, cute, sweet, & sexy. I'd recommend it!
