The Book of #Esther is reckoned as the final historical book in English Old Testaments and part of the #Megillot, or five scrolls of the Writings, in the Hebrew Bible.
The Book of Esther set forth the story of how #Hadassah, or Esther, was elevated to become the queen of #Ahasuerus, who we know as #Xerxes I of #Persia. She became queen after #Vashti had displeased Xerxes and had been dismissed.

Purim calls on us to emulate Esther, our model for saving communities threatened by the #corrupt #tyrant and his scheming, evil counselor. Our tradition demands that we intervene on behalf of #refugees, #asylumseekers, #LGBT, #women, #Ukraine, #veterans, #federalemployees, and all those targeted by #hate.
