“Food systems consume 15% of all fossil fuels globally.
From chemical fertilizers and diesel tractors to long-distance transport and cooking gas, fossil fuels power every step of producing, processing, and consuming food. When oil and gas prices spike, food prices follow.
Now experts are warning of a looming food price crisis as a result of the global energy price spikes”🤔
What will it take to get fossil fuels out of our #agrifood systems?

ETPs statement updated | TP Organics

‼️ More organisations have now joined our joint statement calling for agri-food systems to be recognised as a strategic priority in EU research, innovation, and competitiveness policy. Following our initiative with European Technology Platforms and agri-food organisations, the statement has now received 15 additional endorsements from across the sector. #Agrifood, #aquaculture and #bioeconomy are central to Europe’s competitiveness, resilience and strategic autonomy. However, their role in future EU funding instruments, including the European Competitiveness Fund (ECF) and Horizon Europe, remains a key question in the ongoing negotiations. This growing support sends a clear message: Europe’s agri-food system is a key player in competitiveness and innovation, and it needs to be properly reflected in EU research and innovation policy. The collective position highlights three priorities: 🌱 Strengthen the role of agri-food, aquaculture and the bioeconomy in EU competitiveness policies 🌱 Secure adequate and dedicated R&I investment 🌱 Ensure inclusive and balanced programming processes #TPOrganics will continue engaging with policymakers in the coming weeks to help ensure these priorities are reflected in the final design of both instruments. 📄 Statement: https://lnkd.in/eWUtnCTy Signatories: EATIP #ETPFoodforLife #FABRETP Plants for the Future TP Organics Faculty of Technical Sciences - Aarhus University BioForum vzw University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) EFFAB - European Forum of Farm Animal Breeders European Landowners' Organization European Agroforestry Federation (EURAF) Euroseeds FiBL Europe FoodDrinkEurope Organic Food Quality and Health GreenSupplyChain DIH IFOAM Organics Europe Inagro vzw INIA INRAE #ISOFAR Louis Bolk Institute Natural Resources Institute Finland / Luonnonvarakeskus Nofima S2AQUAcoLAB SEAE (Sociedad Española Agricultura Ecológica y Agroecología) Slovenská poľnohospodárska univerzita v Nitre Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Università degli Studi di Padova #ETPs #ECF #FP10 #HorizonEurope #AgriFood #organicagriculture #EUCompetitiveness #ResearchAndInnovation #EUPolicy
