That’s #ageism. We treat #young #people like they’re not fully #human yet, which is how we justify #controlling them, #policing them, and ignoring their real #needs.
What if we actually listened to young people? What if they had a real #vote in their #schools and their #communities? They’re the ones inheriting this mess; they deserve a say.

Record-smashing powerlifter, 68, says she lives for the 'clang' of the weights
On Thursday morning, 68-year-old Mava Brydges put the weight of a household refrigerator onto her back, lowered herself toward the floor and then stood up again.
Her 132.5-kilogram squat at the Canadian Powerlifting National Championships in St. John's, N.L., was five kilograms shy of the national record for her age and weight class, which she set herself in 2022.
In the next few hours, she set two new records, finishing the morning by hoisting a 140-kilogram barbell off the ground as a crowd of gobsmacked fans cheered and shouted her name.
"This is my sport that I love," Brydges said minutes after her final lift, her eyes filling with tears. "It's an amazing feeling to be able to do what I do at this age."

With today's seeming apocalypse it is easy to give up all hope, to feel hopeless. Age-Verification, Chat Control and other ( usually ageist ) attempts at attacking our freedom seem to be overwhelming at their might. And while it is true that they are terrible things and that they are bad for our freedom, still they are not the end of the world. There is still hope.
Reminder: Ageism is still discrimination. You can disagree with a generation’s politics or tech habits without demeaning their humanity. Let’s keep the discourse focused on ideas and avoid discrimination in all forms.
