Hits uit Afrika by Wendy Kimani & The Congo Beach Club

Teatro Munganga, Saturday, June 13 at 08:00 PM GMT+2

Bezetting:
Wendy Kimani, zang
Koen Verbeek, bas en zang
John Ligtenberg, gitaar
Julian Huiswoud, drums en zang
Steven Coljé, saxen.
Sapin Makengele, animatie, zang en dans.

Afro-Brazilian Jazz & Heritage by Dandara Modesto & Edwin Correia

Teatro Munganga, Saturday, June 27 at 08:00 PM GMT+2

Singer Dandara Modesto and guitarist Edwin Correia met at a late-night jam session in Salvador de Bahia for the first time.
Their instantaneous musical connection marked the beginning of a collaboration that transcends geographical and artistic boundaries. Now based in Switzerland, the duo explores a musical universe that blends the richness of their Afro-Brazilian heritage with the creative freedom of jazz.
Buoyed by poetic lyrics and delicate melodies, they combine traditional rhythms, modern harmonies and electronic effects to create musical landscapes that are both dreamlike and deeply rooted in ancestral traditions. A musical journey that blends exoticism, memory and innovation.

Gowtu & Tones Present: Youngboss

Paradiso, Friday, June 26 at 11:59 PM GMT+2

Surinamese-Guyanese artist makes live debut in the Netherlands

The Surinamese-Guyanese singer-songwriter YoungBoss grew up surrounded by Afro-Caribbean and South American rhythms, which still flow through his music in an energetic mix of reggae, dancehall, rap, trap, afrobeat and sranan pokoe. His musical foundation was partly shaped by his father, Prince Koloni, himself a musician and known for his work in reggae and kaseko. That versatile background is reflected in his sound, in which he seamlessly blends different styles.

In tracks such as ‘Bushinengé’ and ‘Sranang Tongo’, his identity comes to the fore, with a direct link to language, roots and rhythm. Through collaborations with artists such as Dylisa, Architrackz and Jonna Fraser, he has already expanded his reach within the Dutch music scene. As a logical next step, he will now make his debut in our Main Hall on Friday 26 June.
