But the alternative is to personally help someone who is different from myself, or who had has suffered at the hands of others. I think the price of opposing affirmative action and DEI is an obligation to share one’s own treasure with others, and to personally assume the burdens of others. The corollary of smaller government is a greater personal obligation to help others. Ironic.
