It appears #Canva bought #Serif, so the #affinitySuite applications, which I bought last year, have turned into some kind of freemium AI-riddled all-in-one application of some sort?! And they didn't even bother to email me about it?

Fuck this, I'm installing Adobe CS5 again.

I think I’ll wait at least until the Affinity Studio for iPad app releases before I switch my projects to the new update.

I don’t use Affinity on iPad VERY often but it is handy sometimes to open a file and check something or make a quick change while I’m out and away from my computer. #Affinity #AffinitySuite

Autumn photo from over 10 years ago, shortly after the bike trail had been resurfaced—which is why it looks almost artificial. The Surley frame on my current ride was then new, as well, though the Shimano components have seen ~35 years of faithful use.

I used this image as a subject for learning and practicing with #AffinitySuite so confess it might be slightly over processed 😆

Reprocessed in #AffinitySuite from RAW file to exported jpg. Even with as little time as I spent on the photo I feel this image has more depth, color, and texture than my previous effort.*

I've been using this new app for 3 days now. It is basically Canva's original photo, vector, and layout apps combined into one integrated suite and is "totally free."** I am very impressed. It is a joy to use. I was able to get great results right away. It is fast and responsive. Professional grade.

**you do need to provide a valid email address to download. You have to pay for a Premium subscription to use their AI tools, but reviewers are not impressed with those; one calling them "shit." This is not open-source. A large corporation hopes to lure you to their paid plan, but it's a gift as is.

Grosse grosse déprime numérique ce matin.
Je commençais tout juste à me sentir à l'aise dans la suite #AffinitySuite en remplacement de cette grosse daube de #adobe et trop contente parce que le logiciel ne faisait pas de IA et ne volait pas mes images...
Ce matin ils envoient un mail de purs connards de la tech : ils ont vendu leur boîte a Canva. Dans un processus de merdification extrême et rapide, les 3 logiciels de la suite sont fondus en un seul. Totalement gratuit. Géré par #canva. Comprenez : un logiciel merdique qui rame, qui ne proposera plus de traitement photo RAW etc... qui n'aura comme objectif que de piller vos créations, pinceaux, effets, TOUT. Pour alimenter une saloperie de IA dont l'objectif est de vous remplacer à court terme.

Je suis tellement en colère, j'ai envie de leur cracher au visage, genre d'aller là bas et de les agresser physiquement dans leurs bureaux de sales pilleurs de créa de californiens de la tech de chacals de la finance. Help, je suis en vraie détresse là.

Wait a second.

This new version of #Affinity now has a vector trace tool?

...I was *pissed* when I found out that Affinity Designer 2 *didn't* have a vector trace tool, because in open source land, all of the vector apps have had vector tracing for bloody *decades*. It's a standard part of workflow for us #Inkscape weens.

Next thing you'll probably tell me that Affinity is finally implementing scanner support via TWAIN/WIA! ...okay, okay, let's not get our hopes up just yet...
