SpaceX launches rescue mission for stranded NASA astronauts
SpaceX has launched a rescue mission for the two stuck astronauts at the International Space Station. A Falcon rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Saturday, sending up a downsized crew and two empty seats. The capsule carrying a NASA astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut will arrive at the space station this weekend. But it won't leave until February. So the two test pilots who flew up on Boeing's troubled Starliner capsule will have to wait until then before returning home, more than eight months after launching on what should have been a weeklong mission.

Japan billionaire Maezawa cancels moon trip due to uncertainty over SpaceX rocket development
Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa has canceled his planned flight around the moon on a SpaceX vehicle because of uncertainty about when it may be possible. Maezawa selected eight traveling companions in 2022 for the mission that was aimed last year, though most space observers considered it overly optimistic. It would have been the first private flight around the moon. Maezawa made his fortune in retail fashion, launching major Japanese online fashion mall, Zozotown.

United Airlines CEO says the airline will consider alternatives to Boeing's next airplane
The CEO of United Airlines is frustrated about ongoing manufacturing problems at Boeing, and his airline will consider alternatives to buying a future, larger version of the Boeing 737 Max. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said Tuesday on CNBC that Boeing needs “real action” to restore its previous reputation for quality. United has dozens of Boeing 737 Max 9 jetliners that have been grounded for nearly three weeks after a panel blew out of an Alaska Airlines Max 9 in midflight. Kirby is calling it the last straw for United. So his airline will draw up plans for growing without a new, larger version of the Max that Boeing is developing.

NASA releases UFO report. Follow the latest
NASA says the study of UFOs will require new scientific techniques, including advanced satellites as well as a shift in how unidentified flying objects are perceived. The space agency released findings Thursday after a yearlong study into UFOs. An independent team commissioned by NASA cautions that the negative perception surrounding UFOs poses an obstacle to collecting data. But officials say NASA's involvement should help reduce the stigma. The panel says NASA can model how to best approach the study of UFOs through transparent reporting, rigorous analysis and public input.

SpaceX can't launch its giant rocket again until fixes are made, FAA says
The Federal Aviation Administration says SpaceX must take a series of steps before it can launch its mega rocket again. The FAA said Friday it has closed its investigation into SpaceX's failed debut of Starship, the world's biggest rocket. The agency says SpaceX needs to take 63 corrective actions and apply for a modified license before it can launch again. FAA officials say multiple problems led to the April launch explosion and wrecked pad in South Texas. SpaceX founder Elon Musk says he's improved the rocket and strengthened the pad after the test flight.
