Evereve - Seasons

Am 01.05.1998 sah ich Evereve live in Magdeburg als Support von Crematory.

Leider sollte es das einzige mal bleiben, denn exakt ein Jahr später nahm sich Sänger Tom Sedotschenko das Leben.

Die Band machte weiter, aber ich blieb zurück und ich liebe dieses Album bis heute mit jeder Faser meines Herzens.

Das Konzept der Jahreszeiten in 10 Lieder gegossen, in denen Depression und Hoffnung unnachahmlich verschmelzen.

You could label the music "indie rock" or "alternative" but what would that tell you? Nothing! The vocal parts are quite important here: there is a choir, some shouting and an overall distinctive style of singing. Lyrics are mostly in English but French, Spanish and German are also there :)
The music is sometimes quite danceable.

My favorite track is "Birds" (especially the defiant lines at the end).

Sadly, the band does not exist anymore. But the album is still available for buying (digital and physical).

Heute gehört. Dann kann es auch gleich dran sein.

Dieses Album ist das unvorhersehbarste Stück Musik in meiner Sammlung.

Die Spinettklänge zu Beginn des Liedes "ieuD" waren mein erster Kontakt nach einem Tipp von @larsen . Thx 😘

Das nahm mich gefangen und im ersten halben Jahr der Pandemie etwa hörte ich kaum etwas anderes.

ieuD ist ein intensiver Trip. Das ganze Album eine bizarre Schönheit.

A cozy, calming album, with interesting lyrics sang by a unique female voice - perfect for an autumn weekend afternoon.

Stylistically, best described as "alt-folk". The main ingredient is Kate Stables' voice and the sometimes mysterious lyrics, accompanied by some instruments that almost never play the main role. Did I mention her voice?

The song that got me interested on this album was "Bulletproof": "Everything we broke today needed breaking anyway" <3

My dying bride - The angel and the dark river

Die wichtigste Band in meinem Leben mit dem ersten Album, das ich je von ihnen hörte. Der Opener 'The cry of mankind' lief '96 bei MTV.

Mein Cousin sah dies und war völlig hin und weg und spielte mir das Album vor und ich fühlte sofort, dass da grad was passiert war.

Jedes Lied ist eine 10/10. Jede Note bebt vor Dramatik. Der Sound, die Stimme, die Dunkelheit, übermächtig.

Augen zu.

Hash Jar Tempo - Well Oiled (1997)

A collaboration between my beloved #BardoPond and Roy Montgomery.

Seven tracks (all “untitled”), instrumental, heavy psychedelic, introspective, druggy. All tracks were improvised (!).

I fell asleep to this album a lot of times during a certain period of my life. I’ve never done a lot of drugs, but I wonder what this music would feel like, if I did :) Even without adding drugs, this album is the drug. It’s absolutely no party music. It’s music to be alone to :) I am still in love with it, after all these years.

It’s hard to recommend a single track, but check out the first track.

Sadly, i’ts not available digital for buying :( And since it was only released on CD on a now extinct label (Drunken Fish Records) I don’t think that it will be re-released anytime soon. Good thing I have my CD ;)

The Wikipedia article is also interesting. I didn’t know that the album got quite the good reception worldwide.

Very positive, quirky, calming, somewhat danceable music. The style is a wild mix of hip hop beats, electronica and folk. I guess you could call it "folktronica". But what do genres even mean :) I care more about the mood that is created.

I've listened to the album a lot of times since it came out in 2006, and I always come back to it.

For me the #AdventOfMusic is postponed until my hearing gets better. The virus infection I am going through impacts my ears a lot. I just can't listen to music right now :(
I will catch up once I am healthy enough again.
Sicknesses impacting my hearing just suck!
