It's a long read, but it's worth it. I wish there more more like it. Folks needs to understand that every adoptive family is built on the ruins of another. They changed my name; falsified my birth certificate; severed me from everything society claims is most important--but they couldn't change who I am. I will ALWAYS be the daughter of my biological mother & father. File under Fcked Up Truths About #Adoption That Ppl Never Discuss (it's a VERY fat file): I could marry any of my bio siblings. Even knowing they exist & having identified them. Excepting those in step-parent adoptions, that's the reality of every #adoptee in this country--bc in order to finalize an adoption, a legal severance from bio family must occur.
