#Selfhosting is so satisfying. Having looked at my #AdguardHome statistics for the last 12-months, i've cut my external DNS queries on average by 70 % Since last week all my web searches also goes trough my selfhosted SearXNG instance, proxied trough my VPS.

Jetzt befindet sich sowohl im Heimnetz als auch im Gäste-Netzwerk (da hängen u.a. die beiden Smart-TVs drinnen) je ein Raspberry Pi Zero 2W mit AdGuard Home. Der Zugriff von unterwegs erfolgt über VPN auf den Router. War - dank verständlicher Anleitungen im Internet - ruckzuck installiert und läuft zufriedenstellend.

Verbringe den Samstagvormittag damit, den Nginx Reverse Proxy umzubauen, um Let's Encrypt Zertifikate via DNS-Challenge zu validieren. Schließlich will ich im Intranet via AdGuard saubere DNS-Rewrites ohne offene Ports (80/443) – man gönnt sich ja sonst keinen TLS-verschlüsselten Localhost.

Note to self: When you migrate your adblocking DNS server from bare metal to docker, make sure to update your monitoring platform so it knows the new addresses/IP's... otherwise your uptime goes to crap.

Also remember to read the notifications from your Teams channel, that receives the notification webhook for down and up notifications; so you don't find this as an afterthought when working out how to monitor if DoH and TLS queries are working.

@operative #AdGuardHome is open-source so nothing to fear about their authors.
It works very well even from outside your LAN.
You can set your instance on your mobile devices without the need to install a VPN.
Here I use AGH with ad-filters and #unbound as DNS resolver.
