For anyone in or passing through #Adelaide / #KaurnaYarta in the next fortnight and wants to catch some #AdelaideFringe shows, I can so very strongly recommend you catch anything that Wright & Grainger (W&G) or Casey Jay Andrews (CJA) have put together:
• Orpheus (W&G) is a modern retelling of the Greek myth, a mix of spoken word storytelling and song, full of heart.
• Eurydice (W&G) is the same as above, but from Eurydice's perspective. You can catch both on the same night if you want. Both have a string quartet which elevates them further.
• The Wild Unfeeling World (CJA) is a different take on Moby Dick, a reflection on what it means to be human.
• Selene (W&G + Megan Drury) uses another Greek myth as a basis for a modern-day story of identity and the moon.
• Feast of Words (CJA + Jack Brett + guests) is a few lovely short stories and songs crafted by Casey & Jack alongside an (optional) three-course dinner, with two guests adding their own stories into the mix. (Main course is minimal, but all food is delicious).
My visit was short, these are all I got to see at the Fringe this year, but each one of them was absolute wonderful. As @richiekhoo reflected with me, they're kind of a secular church, a reminder of our collective humanity. ❤️
